rock encounters

Last Wednesday I saw Patti Smith at a bar in santa cruz. I know that some have debated the coolness of Patti Smith, but the fact is that you cannot watch a film about punk without everyone who was there going on about the importance and ass kicking-ness of Patti Smith and her guitarist Lenny Kaye. Anyhow, to finally be in the crowd up front beneath them was just insane, and I kept grinning like a fool.

I thought that Lenny Kaye was smiling back at me a couple of times, but decided that was crazy. Then after the show, he actually came over to shake my hand and talk to me, and to tell me that he got a really great vibe off of me during the show . He kissed me on the cheek and said we should be myspace friends! So now a 60 year old man who pioneered CBGB and created the Pebbles comps is messaging me on myspace, saying that he likes my "Heartbreakers stylee" (whatever that means). I shall cross-file that fact under "totally random" and "my life rules". Totally awesome.
