6-8 out of 52

I was kind of on a roll this week, at this rate I'm probably going to bump my personal yearly goal to something like 100 books for 2012...but we'll see.

06 & 07. Ex-Heroes & Ex-Patriots by Peter Clines
ZOMBIES VS. SUPERHEROES and yes it is just as awesome as it sounds. I group these titles together because Ex-Patriots is a sequel and I read them back to back. This was SUCH an excellent book. The heroes are diverse and well-written and I loved every single one of them. The zombies are your typical "virus outbreak gone wrong" but the twist of how they started is pretty shocking and excellently played. I love how this book played out and never thought I'd have so much fun reading a book of zombies vs. super heroes (okay, I knew it would be AWESOME, but still).

If you love super heroes you will love this book. If you love zombies you will love this book. If you love both, well, you just hit the jack-pot.

Aside from the characters, I also enjoyed how the narrative bounced back and forth between the present (which is well into the zombie apocalypse) and the past (which mainly deals with the days leading up to it.

I finished this really quickly and it was because it was difficult to put down. Clines has done a great job of expanding his universe and putting his characters in situations where they could shine. I really enjoyed this book and if he does plan to make a third and even it out with a trilogy, well, I will be the first in line to get it.

08. Dragon Precinct -Keith R.A. DeCandido
Basically Law & Order meets a Dungeon & Dragons game meets LOTR (sort of). This was a fun read as well and not exactly what you would expect from a fantasy novel (and I'm not typically in to "high" fantasy since I like things a little more modern). Despite the setting it DOES have a fairly modern feel, though I didn't get the sense that there was any modern tech. I'm not sure what to say about it exactly other than it was fun to read. The characters were fairly interesting, although I wish some of them had been fleshed out more outside of their jobs.

And today, I got Soulless by Gail Carriger and Morpheus Road #2: The Black by D.J. Machale to read, well, I got The Black on audio cd but still. It's going towards my count :3 Also, thanks to being ahead, my pre-made reading list is kind of screwed all to hell at this point, but I never said that was set in stone anyway.
