Book 2 of 52

(This is totally on time, whatever do you mean?)

So I planned on reading Battle Royale last week, but it didn't get in to my library until Friday. Therefore I read Bad Kitty by Michele Jaffe. It was completely just a fun read (and a re-read at that), but I love it so.

The main character Jas gets embroiled in a mystery in Las Vegas. Her most excellent friends assist her. There's Polly, who always carries a BeDazzler, Roxy, who believes in aliens, and Tom, who picks locks and imitates voices. Not to mention Alyson and Veronique who wear horrific matching outfits. Here's a favorite passage of mine:
"    Tom ignored that, addressing himself to the rapt Evil Henches. "Roxy, Jas, and Polly decided that they were going to be roller skate queens. So they put together this routine to some really cheesy song. What was the song?"
"Do you hear something?" Polly asked.
"I don't. No one is talking," Roxy confirmed.
Tom went on undaunted. "That's right, it was 'Macho Man' by the Village People. Anyway, they choreographed the whole thing in the living room, thinking that practicing in their socks on the wood floor would be just like roller skating. It had lots of turns and fancy jumps in it."
"Well, we had to show we were macho," Roxy said defensively. "So we did macho things."
"Yes, and we were wrong, and it didn't go that well," I said, trying to wrap it up.
Tom was having no part of it. "Jas, you're cutting out the best part."
     "No. I'm not."
"Yeah. The part where Polly swan dived into the audience and knocked that man unconscious." *(Foot note)

*Jas: I don't know what Tom is talking about. What happened was Polly was supposed to jump up and land on my back, only we didn't take into account how much more momentum there would be in that move with WHEELS involved.
Roxy: Or that Polly would put her hands over your eyes.
Jas: So I couldn't see where I was going and vroomed straight into the side of the rink so hard that I flipped over it, and Polly flew through the air.
Roxy: And landed in that man's lap.
Polly: He was very nice. He dropped the law suit right away when he heard who my parents were. And he can walk just fine now.
Roxy: Tom is such an exaggerator. Still, it's a good thing Polly was wearing a hard hat."

Yeah, it's one of my favorites just to read. It take me only a few hours, so if you have a bit of time and are looking for a light read, I recommend it! (Plus, there's a sequel!)
