What: The Beggar's Opera by John Gay

Where: University of Waterloo, Arts Lecture Hall, Room 113

When: June 22 to 24 - 7-10pm

Society's dreams in tatters: a ruptured economy, failing banks, government bailouts of the wealthy, unbridgeable gaps between rich and poor. It's not 2009... it's 1729! This take-no-prisoners English musical parodies what we see now as the permanent societal imbalance between rich and poor with a scathing look at life and love in a world on the brink of revolution. Does anything ever change?

Who: We are looking for Actors, Technicians, and Production staff (publicity, front of house, and general production). We are looking for actors 16 years old and up. We are looking for 19 actors with a total of 36 parts in the production. KWLT audition are done first come, first serve - no need to book an audition time.

How: Actors are requested to have a a prepared monologue, preferably from English theatre from 1550-1740 - samples are available upon request (please contact the producer). If you wish to audition for a singing role, please bring a prepared a capella piece. Come in comfortable clothes.

Performances Dates: September 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, October 1, 2, 3, 2009, all shows 8pm
