The magazine laid out on my lap, yes, the one with the photo shoot of me licking whipped cream from Shinya’s chest. They had actually decided to put that picture into the magazine. It had probably already hit the newsstand by now. Will the fans see more than what is there? I mean it is not the first time for us to fan service but then in black and white, in print, can they see the intensity of our emotions? The article by the interviewer is more than obvious in his article, hinting of more than he should have. The door opened, Shinya entered. Casting the magazine carelessly on the couch, I stepped up, giving him a quick hug.

“Okaeri”

“Tadaima”

It had almost become a custom, these welcome home hugs in the evening and goodbye kisses in the morning. He caught sight of the magazine, wrinkling his nose.

“Is it as bad as I feared?”

“Worst”

“I probably should say I told you so?”

“Yep”

He smiled. I smiled. We shall take it as it comes.

First warning, black faces of my management company. Second warning, curious glances from other staff in the building. Third warning, silence from our band members. It was like the calm before the storm. Both of us parted at the hallway, him going to his changing room, me going to mine. We didn’t have any rehearsal before the live, Aoi deeming us to have enough practice. As the makeup artist applied the foundation on my face, I caught sight of Ruki walking towards me in the mirror. I waved a small hello before again letting my mind wander. It was a little disconcerting, everything seemed to move along too smoothly backstage. Us dealing with our pre-concert jitters our own way, not really talking to each other. I stepped out of the changing room and made my way towards the side stage to be hooked up by the sound assistants. As I waited for my turn to go out, I caught sight of Shinya coming out of his own room, him seeing me and making his way towards me.

I was more than surprised when he pushed me towards the wall, moving under my guitar strap to hug me without the restriction of my electric guitar. I could hear him breathing, feel his heart beating, sense how winded up he is. Easing my hands around his slim waist, I rested my head on his shoulder.

“What’s wrong?”

“I wish we could just go somewhere. Travel to a place where no one knows us. Where we can be ourselves”

“Something happened?”

He shook his head, pulling away as sudden as he had suddenly hugged me. I could see the stares from some of the stagehands as Die motioned them away. The rest of Dir en grey surrounded me as did Ruki and Aoi who haven't went on stage. To think of it, it was far too silent outside. What are Kai and Reita doing?

“Yamamoto-san said we probably caused the end of our bands. I would never want that…”

Why does that name sound so familiar? After a short bit, I identified him to Identical man no1 from my management company. I reached out, catching his hand in mind.

“Don’t worry”

Although I said those words, the gravity of the expressions of our friends hit me like bricks. What have we done? It was too quiet outside. Kai entered, his face filled with… apprehension? All of us looked at him, the bearer of bad news.

“Uruha, Shinya-kun. Perhaps both of you should come out?”

This is it. Our make or break time.
