[There's a click from his gun and a shot. He hits one that was coming up behind Alfred.]

[!!! there's shuffling sounds as Al turns around to see what that was.]

[A few more shots, this time from Alfred's gun]

So the plan is to just shoot until they're all gone? Really? That'll take too long!

[If he wasn't more concerned about keeping Al safe, he'd be scolding you know]

[The quick sounds of Matt reloading his gun.]

I don't know what else we can do, Alfred.

[A pause .....and another shot, one that just came up to Alfred's left.]

[THEN IT'S LUCKY FOR AL THAT HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THAT EITHER]

Well, we have to think of something!

And hey, mind giving me a heads up next time? Cutting it close, dude.

The only thing I can think of is someone using magic but I don't-- 8 o'clock.

[make that two shots. Alfred helped]

Ahhhh!!!! [a clatter as the journal drops to the ground]

[Startled, away from the journal because he's looking from where he's hidden.]

ALFRED!!

[notalfred]

[A series of clicks and Matt begins to shoot the cactuar one after another, amazingly rabid fire for a single-shot rifle.]

uhhhg.

[The impact from being dropped must have been too much for Alfred's journal. It goes dead with dull hiss. Matt might hear white noise from his end after that.]

The Journal is just left running now.

[notalfred]

[He would have heard it if he wasn't otherwise occupied with shooting the fuck out of these monsters. Eventually he gives up shooting from afar and the sound of him grabbing his journal and his frantic footsteps down to where Al was laying are heard.]

[More loading and shooting can be made out.]
