Masaki stared at the boy astonished.

"Wh-what do you mean... my shadow? How did you come here? Are you a stalker?!"

"Hm, it's true that I've been following you, but it's different from stalking." the boy said casually.

He looked like a human but was Aiba Masaki's shadow.

He explained that every single person's shadow had its own life in the "shadow world". Many of them obtained a human form to move freely in this world.

"That's why I don't look like you." the shadow said as Masaki looked at him, from head to toes "It's insane to exist two exactly alike persons in this world! Unless they're twins."

Insane is that my "shadow" is talking to me right now, Masaki thought to himself.

"So, do you have a name? Or do I have to call you Shadow?"

"Ah, I'm Kazunari." the boy stretched his hand to Masaki "Call me Kazu."

Oh, even the name doesn't sound a syllable like mine. Masaki shook his hand and looked to the floor.

"Hey, if you're my shadow, what's this?" he pointed to his dark form at his feet.

"When a shadow comes to this world, a lifeless shadow takes its place. We call it dead shadows. Like mine." Kazu pointed to his own "I'm not a real human, so my shadow is lifeless."

Masaki nodded but all that shadow talk was making his head ache. If he told that to someone, they wouldn't believe him - neither himself was believing in that. But that boy, his shadow, Kazu was there, looking at him while he prepared the breakfast, real and present.

"Do you eat?" Masaki asked setting the table.

"No. You don't need to worry about me. Shadows are easier to live with than pets." Kazu smiled and rested his chin on his hand.

Masaki sighed.

"What's the reason you're here?"

"I like this world. I wanted to know what's like living here." Kazu's eyes shone as he talked "Humans are interesting. Very funny to play pranks!"

"Pranks? Do shadows play pranks?" Masaki took a bite of his toast.

"Why do you think your shoes always untie? And you feel like someone's poking your shoulder, but you're alone? It was me." Kazu smirked.

Masaki choked with his breakfast. He always thought he didn't know well how to lace his shoes, and that he was so tired he felt things around him. All this time his shadow was playing with him... that devilish smile across Kazu's face must mean everything was, by fact, his fault.

"But it's not very good to do that. Specially now that I can see you."

"Alright." Kazu looked sadly to the window "Can I go out for a walk?"

"Yes, if you promise me that won't play pranks."

Kazunari smiled and watched Masaki wash the dishes. He followed the taller man to his bedroom, don't taking his eyes off him.

"Are you gonna watch me all the time?!" Masaki blushed making the bed.

"Sorry, I'm used to follow your movements." Kazu giggled.

It was weird to Masaki to have someone in the room with him. He was living alone for a long while and liked that, but Kazunari some how made him feel even more comfortable. Maybe because was his shadow?

Masaki looked curiously to the boy in front of him reading an old magazine.
