Haldir startled when he felt himself backed into the tree, and an arched eyebrow met Gildor’s predatory gaze.
“Now?” asked Haldir, “Here?”
“This forest knows my footsteps well, and Fangorn welcomes us. Even an old Noldo like me can know the wood.”
Against an aged oak, Haldir felt the tendrils begin to inch up his legs and the tickle of branches at his wrists. They were gentle, but held him fast.
“Did not the lady tell me to beware of them? And now I cannot forget them,” Haldir mused, eyeing the trees and rubbing his wrists when they had finished.
