Zack used his key to enter the apartment it was dark inside as all lights were turned off and the blinds were closed, Kris obviously wasn’t back yet.
He flipped the switch next to the door to light the living room. Kris had obviously left in a hurry he had left a coffee mug on the table half empty and a plate with a half eaten piece of toast next to it. Zack sighed at his boyfriend’s messiness he had gotten used to it since they had moved in together and he had also gotten used to cleaning up his mess. Picking up the plate and mug he walked into the kitchen dumping the toast in the bin and tossing the plate into the basin in the sink. He poured the coffee out of the mug and rinsed the mug placing it on the draining board.
He re-entered the living room and flopped down of the sofa. Boredom set in as he sat there so he grabbed the remote control of the table and turned the TV on. He flipped through a few channels finding nothing to interest him it still amazed him that even though they had cable there was never anything on TV. Eventually he came across a sports channel showing a football game. The New York Giants were playing the New England Patriots. He supported the Giants out of loyalty more than anything else being that he came from New York and his dad was a massive supporter he had brought Zack up taking him to games on a regular basis.
He stifled a yawn as the game progressed with nothing much happening and he began to lose interest. The whistle sounded out for a break and Zack stood up. He walked into the kitchen pulling open the fridge searching for any food. There was nothing decent in there either him or Kris needed to go shopping.
Hearing a key turn in the lock he walked out of the kitchen and watched Kris enter carrying two pizza boxes.
“Read my mind.” He said walking forward to take them of his boyfriend.
Kris smiled at him as he removed his jacket, “Realised this morning we had no food so I stopped by the pizza place.”
Zack grinned as he lifted the top of the first pizza and realised it was Hawaiian his favourite, “Thanks.” He grabbed a piece and took a bite immediately.
Kris lifted his own pizza of the table and sat down on the sofa, “What are we watching?”
“Football.” Zack took another bite.
“Ah you mean the wimps version of rugby.” Zack joined him on the sofa and sent a glare his way.
“It’s not for wimps.”
Kris rolled his eyes at their old argument, “The players are covered from head to foot in safety gear. And don’t even get me started on the fact that you call it football.”
“People who play rugby are crazy and what’s wrong with calling it football?”
“Well for a start the run with the ball in their hands they barely use their feet and they stole the name of our game.”
“You mean soccer?” Said Zack teasingly he knew the word soccer wound Kris up.
“It is not called soccer that’s an American word and since I am not American I refuse to use it.”
“You’re an American citizen.” Zack pointed out finishing of his first slice of pizza and moving onto the second.
“Doesn’t matter the word soccer is still an insult to the beautiful game of football.”
Zack scoffed, “Beautiful game, Kris you don’t even watch or care about the game you’re only arguing for the sake of arguing.”
Kris pouted, “Prove it.”
Zack burst out laughing, “Child.” He teased.
Kris ignored the insult and took a bite of his pizza. He grabbed the remote from the sofa just as the next quarter of the game started and began flicking through the channels.
“Hey!” Zack protested the game had just gone into its final quarter and he wanted to know the outcome.
“Problem?” Asked Kris innocently changing the channel once more.
“Change it back.” He told him placing his pizza box on the coffee table.
Kris changed the channel back to the game for a few seconds just long enough for Zack to see that the Giants had the ball before changing it again. This was enough for Zack he normally wasn’t this into football but this was an important game and the Giants had a good chance of winning. He reached over to grab the remote off Kris but Kris stretched his arm out keeping it just out of Zack’s reach.
Zack grinned as he realised how close proximity they were. He was stretched across Kris’ chest trying to reach the remote and his mouth was very close to his. Zack lifted his head slightly to steal a kiss. Kris lowered his arm for a brief moment just close enough for Zack to grab the remote while their lips were still locked. He pulled away grinning in victory with the remote grasped tightly in his hand.
“Got it now stay still and let me finish watching the game.”
Kris gave up and just finished eating his pizza.
