Doha by Kabir
This is a bit off-topic, but I've been given an assignment in my calligraphy course to make a piece using a (specific, assigned) translation of one of the dohas of the Indian mystic Kabir. I would really like to include the original Hindi as well as the English translation; it just feels less weird to me. I can't, however, figure out which of the dohas is actually the basis for what is apparently a rather loosely poetic translation. I thought that with all the broad range of reading folks here have done, someone might be able to help.
The translation, by Sushil Rao, is:
hiding in this cage
of visible matter
is the invisible
lifebird
pay attention
to her
she is singing
