Hi all!
alliebean02 and I were just saying yesterday that it's a shame that only a few of us seem to be posting here anymore. Hope ya'll are enjoying your reading, nonetheless! (Not that I've been very good about updating either!)
#13 - The Reading Group by Elizabeth Noble
A British Chic Lit that's been sitting on my TBR pile for a long time. I took it to Cuba with me and enjoyed it on the beach. Very likeable characters.
#14 - The Secret Lives of the Sushi Club by Christy Yorke
An American Chic Lit with a more literary bent. I also enjoyed this one on the beach and by the pool in Cuba. The title sounds much more "fun" than this book really was. It was good though, just much more "serious" than might be expected from the title.
#15 - We are Family by Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees
Bought this one by my favorite duo of writers in England a couple of summers ago. It was their usual "double" storyline, but one was in the past and one in the present. I enjoyed the one in the present much more than the one in the past, so was a little annoyed whenever it went back there. Not as successful as their stories told from multiple pov's in the same time period, in mho.
#16 - The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand
I listened to this one on CD in the car in April. It was about four "best friend" couples who live (and die) on Nantucket. Some of the characters were likeable, others extremely unlikeable. It was a very "real" book. It was good, not spectacular. I will likely read more by this author.
#17 - The Devil in the Junior League by Linda Francis Lee
I also listend to this one on CD. It was okay. The heroine was a completely materialistic idiot, which was a bit hard to get past. Not quite sure what the hero saw in her (I agreed with him more when he also thought she was a materialistic dolt). But it was okay for what it was.
#18 - Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts
The second in her new quartet about wedding planner friends. It was fine - fewer sentence fragments than I am used to from Roberts. I liked Emma and Jack, but all in all, not much happened, so a bit boring. But I will read the last two, since I like the concept well enough.
