The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

It would never have occurred to me to read this book if it had not been for Sci-fi's version of the book entitled Tin Man.  I enjoyed it; not as much as the original, but it was a fresh look at Oz, sure enough.  Having never read the book, it made me wonder which of the movies was more true to the book, so I picked it up at B&N, wondering why it had never occurred to me to pick it up to see how true the first movie was to the book.  So home sick today, I started reading, and found that the original movie was closest to the book, but not idea for idea; there were still quite a few liberties taken.  I also found it interesting to read the notes on certain aspects of the book, things that the movie certainly didn't pick up (that I know of), but were interesting commentary on Baum writing and the incorporated symbolism.
