34. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
S: Emotional Charlie makes new friends, mistakes, and a discovery.
Thoughts: This was a decent young adult read. I enjoyed the letter style and got attached to Charlie and his friends as the book went on. I loved several of the side characters and would have liked to read more about them. The ending was a little surprising but definitely helped me understand Charlie's actions. Does anyone know if Pieces is any good?

35. Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
S: Follows a mutated gene to Cal, a genetic boy raised as a girl.
Thoughts: What an original, wonderful book. It was long and there was a lot of details, but I came to love all the characters. Cal's relationships with his female friends were intriguing, and I loved how the revelation came about. I was a little disappointed in the ending because parts of it didn't seem to fit the characters involved, but overall I think this is one of the better books I've read this year. It made me want to try The Virgin Suicides even though I wasn't a big fan of the movie.
