Can you say British Victorian literature?

15. Frankenstein - Mary Shelley
I read this for the classic challenge I was in and I enjoyed it, mostly because it made me so mad at the main character. It is not like the movie idea of the green monster, walking around. The story is told in several layers, beginning with a ship captain,then Dr ( Read more... )

British Victorian Literature. i love it too, though it sometimes can be extremely depressing.

If you liked Frankenstein, you should try her other book "The Last Man"...it's hard to find (I had to special order it through Barnes and Noble) but it's (IMHO) better than Frankenstein.

Just so you know, Austen died 20 years before Victoria was born, & Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1817 and The Last Man in 1826 so they are both pre-Victorian as she didn't become Queen until 1837.
