Ready for another poll? :D

Feb 09, 2007 14:05

I know, I know...I haven't posted the final updated results of the *last* poll we did, but I expect to later today. In the meantime, I'd like to head off into the opposite direction with a new poll.

Now that I have experience tallying HUGE numbers of responses, I'm going to establish some rules this time around:

  1. You MUST provide your answer in the following format: BOOK TITLE - AUTHOR
  2. If your response is not in the above format, I'm not counting it.
  3. No, really...I'm serious.
  4. If you answer with "BOOK TITLE, AUTHOR", "BOOK TITLE by AUTHOR", just "BOOK TITLE", or "Anything by AUTHOR", I'm not pulling it in the results. I can't begin to tell you how many hours I spent editing the results of the last poll (correcting people's spelling, looking up authors on books I'd never heard of, changing things like "Catcher in the Rye" to "The Catcher in the Rye" so that the titles would sort/subtotal correctly, etc.) and I don't really have the time to dedicate to that sort of cleanup again.
  5. As a corollary to the above, please...I'm begging you. CHECK YOUR SPELLING, on both the book title and the author. If you're not sure if the book you're nominating is "Blah Blah" or "THE Blah Blah", check Amazon.com for the official title before entering your answer.
  6. You must have read the book you're nominating. Don't nominate books that you simply think are overhyped and won't read solely for that reason. I'm asking for books that YOU have actually read and found to not live up to that hype.

OK, on to the poll!

Poll

ETA: OK, honestly? I know I should be upset, but all I can really do is laugh. The SECOND RESPONSE I got to this poll failed to enter their answer in the format I requested. Granted, the data extraction program I'll be using to pull the results together will *probably* still work without the blanks around the dash, but...wow. And the 7th response is in a format I specifically requested NOT to use. Failure to follow instructions makes the baby Jesus cry. :D
