The real problem is, no Cubbin also means no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money--or maybe just desperate--Stephanie accepts a secondary job guarding her secretive and mouthwatering mentor Ranger from a deadly Special Forces adversary. While Stephanie is notorious for finding trouble, she may have found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again--a little food poisoning, some threatening notes, and a bridesmaid's dress with an excess of taffeta never killed anyone . . . or did they? Thoughts:
A fairly standard Stephanie Plum. The plot line might have been better if not for the fact that it was so bleeding obvious I'd worked it out about 100 pages in. That fact alone made it rather frustrating that it took Stephanie AND Morelli almost the entire book to work it out - Morelli's supposed to be a cop, he should have been able to put it all together better. On the bright side, Lula's antics were kept mostly to the first half of the book, and Stephanie managed to not accidentally sleep with Ranger. Stephanie getting poisoned was also kinda entertaining though the rest of the plot line with Ranger's old army buddy felt like padding, and I didn't blame the couple they were trying to protect from eloping. Having Stephanie as my bridesmaid would probably make me elope too!
