The Knitting Pattern Mystery by
April Fernsby My rating:
3 of 5 stars This was one I stumbled over as a freebie and coming in on book four meant I was missing a little but not so much as it was confusing. Karis is psychic. She along with her pregnant sister Erin are opening up a café. As part of the opening festivities, she, along with her older friend (her Mom's friend), Peggy, hold a knitting class there. Peggy is something of a vlogging star in the local knitting community.
One of the knitters brought a bunch of vintage 1950s patterns with her and Karis is drawn to a twin set and just knows she has to finish it right then and now. Once she starts she starts having visions. She's someone else, waiting on someone as a young woman in the 50s and much later being attacked by an old man and stabbing him in the throat with a knitting needle which she thinks is a vision of the future.
So Karis, Peggy and Karis's friend, Seb, a local detective, try to figure out where the patterns came from, who was this young woman and why did the old man say she killed someone just before he attacked her.
Like many cozies there isn't much in the way of gore, bad language or sex but for me some of them go overboard to be clean (I loathe that word attached to books, it's SO judgmental). This one toed the line a bit with Peggy but as she's older I was a bit more forgiving of it. She's practically watching Karis like a hawk with Seb. I'm shocked she didn't drag out a chastity belt. That bugged me because again the judgmental stuff. But that was a minor part of it. Overall, this was fun and short.
