book 41:  Gin Tama, Volume 4 by Hideaki Sorachi

I love how each section or "chapter" is a titled lesson.  For example, the lesson used as the subtitle for this book is "Exaggerate the Tales of Your Exploits by a Third, So Everyone Has a Good Time". :)  In this volume, our dysfunctional samurai/alien/odd-jobs group:  shows the young sister of the shogun "real life" outside the palace...well, Kagura's version anyway (she only didn't get around to "getting drunk and going to a love hotel"); saves Catherine, the alien ex-cat burglar, from being forced into rejoining her old crew; helps "Hammy", aka Hamako, an obese former drug abuser from a previous volume who is trying to rescue her boyfriend from the dealer's life (have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with this arc...lots of fat bashing that seemed a bit cruel for a character who is mostly portrayed as crude, but inwardly compassionate); goes on a space holiday and gets hijacked by anti-amanto space pirates then gets sort-of rescued by a more-goofy-than Katsura, space-cadet, former compatriot, Tatsuma Sakamoto, (and his crew) of Gintoki's who left the samurai/ alien wars to become a space merchant;  stops a panty thief Robin Hood, who steals panties from pretty girls and gives them to guys "who can't get a date", unfortunately for him he stole from Shinpachi's beautiful but violent sister, Otae, and gave to Gintoki and leader of the Shinsengumi, Kondo; and, finally, we meet another former ally of Gintoki's, Takasugi, who is also a bit crazy, but in a darker more violent way, who tries to kill the shogun (and anyone who happens to be in the area) by inciting a man whose son was wrongfully killed by the government to build a robot army to cause destruction during a festival.
