A little while ago, I finished reading Caveat Emptor by Ruth Downie, the next book in the series of mystery novels set in the Roman Empire during the reign of Hadrian. The protagonist is a former legion medical officer who's forced into investigating the loss of tax revenues from a certain city, and of course there's murder involved. It's a good tale, with pretty well-defined characters. On to the next book of the series!
