50 - 56

My reading has slowed and my posting has been worse, basically because I have been busy with other things.
Still, my most recent books were;
Francesca Lia Block's Weetzie Bat; dangerous angels 1. It was ok, but I could not relate to the characters. Still, another young adult book and worth knowing.
Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything in which Bill explains science incredibly well. I wish I had read this when I had to study science because it would have made me interested.
Bill Bryson's Notes from a big country in which Bill collects his columns on the USA. THe curious position of living in his own country, writing about it for the British, and looking at his own country through the lens of his adopted residence country.
Lauren Myracle's TTYL which was written in IM chat language and apparently has been banned! Ooh, I thought it was good, and I would not ban it!
Ian Serraillier's The Silver Sword which was a somewhat idyllic view of children coping with the second world war. No, perhaps idyllic is the wrong word; but the plucky kids manage to survive and grow and develop, though they escape from the Warsaw Ghetto and walk across Europe, being helped by all sorts, including kind-hearted Germans who'd lost children in the war too.
Jane Gardam's Bilgewater which was pretty good.

So a lot of young adult reading, and hence a good number of books so far this year. 56 books, and 15,609 pages. Last year I managed 51 books but 17,658 pages, so I need to beat the pages count...
