The World Without Us by Alan Weisman is an interesting book and it is, please forgive the over-worn expression, also thought-provoking. However, after a few examples of what the world would be like without humans I was thinking, "All right already! I get it!" Perhaps the treatise would have worked better in slightly shorter form. Or perhaps I just have no attention span these days. When Weisman starts talking about the groups who are for beginning human extinction now - that freaked me out a little. Yes, it might be better for the planet, but are you nuts?! Our extinction is inevitable - why rush it?
