One Corpse Too Many and The Friday Night Knitting Club

76.  One Corpse Too Many, by Ellis Peters.  224 pages.  (1979)

Grade: B

In this early Brother Cadfael mystery (I believe it is the second in the series), King Stephen has descended upon Shrewsbury, with the intention of taking the castle there, held by the Empress Maud's supporters, who are attempting to get out in any way possible.  The murder investigation is almost an afterthought; there is so much else of interest going on.

One of my favorite in this series, that I have read (I haven't read all of them, by any means).

77.  The Friday Night Knitting Club, by Kate Jacobs.  384 pages.  (2007)

Grade: B

The story of the owner of a New York City yarn store, her family, and friends.

Superior chicklit.  Particularly nice if you knit.

historical fiction, knitting, fiction, mystery
