I can’t help but smile watching you sleep. In all these years, that hasn’t changed. You’re blonde hair spills over the black satin sheets like spun gold, sparkling in the sunlight that filters through the window. You’re sprawled out in every direction and I’m amazed I have room to even be on the bed. It’s oddly comforting though, because it’s you.
It’s been 4 years since you pulled down the last of my defenses. To this day I can still hardly believe you kissed me first. Maybe I’m just sore I didn’t make the first move. Still, you managed to catch me off guard. I must say Ed, I was impressed.
I could get lost in that feeling all over again, you know. Maybe you weren’t particularly experienced, but your lips were so soft and the way they moved against mine. They were so gentle, I could hardly catch my breath as your fingers wound through my hair.
Shame on you. You’re not even awake and you’re distracting me. I can almost feel your lips on mine still. Speaking of which, yours are parted right now, just begging to be touched.
Alas, I know the moment is ending as your golden eyes flutter open. Within moments, you’ll be boisterous and loud and rough, just so very you. I’ll lose the sleeping angel that was just here. The one who spoke softly and whispered in my ear, the one who trembled as you first kissed me. In return I’ll see another side of you and remember all the reasons I love you.
I half expect some demand for coffee or breakfast. That’s just how you are. But here you are, a soft, real smile drifting across your lips as you lean up. I can hardly believe my ears as I hear you whispering sweet nothings and my eyes slip shut and I just feel as velvet lips brush over mine. You’re more sure now than that first time, human hand cupping my cheek, automail resting at the base of my neck. The frantic desperation to be heard that permeated that first kiss is gone now, replaced by simple comfort and love, but it’s still you and the wonderful feeling remains. Perhaps you’ll stay that serene angelic figure for a few moments longer.
