Disclaimer: Negima is not mine, but 100% belongs to Akamatsu Ken.
Notes: Takes place during the Mahora Festival just before Ayaka and the girls want to see Negi's Budoukai match. ITF (in this fic), we find out who her blob-friends are. (Or, at least, who I interpret them to be. XD) OK, just so you know, this is NOT one of my best fics, as it was kind of rushed. (Sorry, Zazie! TT_TT) It probably turned out weird because Zazie has like 3% character development and most other girls have like 50+. Maybe I'll rewrite this someday when Zazie finally gets a character chapter during/after the Wales arc.
Summary: She usually stays out of these things, but to see her classmates smile she'll help them... just this once.

"I wanna see him, I wanna see him!" Yukihiro Ayaka, the 3-A class representative cried over and over again to her classmates. "It's criminal that I, Yukihiro Ayaka, must simply see him via a measly computer screen!"
It was the second day of the Mahora Festival and Ayaka and the other 3-A girls had just seen their teacher's magnificent performance in fighting others to get to the final match.
"Oi, oi, Iincho!" Yuuna protested with a smile on her face. "You can't go to see Negi-sensei!"
Ayaka snapped out of her mourning and glared at Yuuna "And why not, Yuuna-san?!"
"'Cause, Iincho, you need to switch with somebody!" Yuuna wagged a finger in Ayaka's angry face. "We all wanna see Negi-sensei too, so you have nobody to switch with!"
A loud chorus of "That's right!" and "Yeah, Iincho!" reached Ayaka's ears. The blond class rep knew she had been defeated her classmates, so she began mourning again.
"My dear Negi-sensei... how I long to see you again!" She cried into a hanky she pulled out of nowhere. Even a couple girls joined in with Ayaka.
But there was one girl that stayed far away from her group of classmates. One girl who didn't bother joining in with the Haunted House activities.
That girl was Zazie, who hung back with her pet bird on her shoulder. She was quiet, who rarely associated with her classmates and everyone knew very little about her. Well, Zazie knew about herself, but she wasn't just going to blurt it out in front of everyone.
When the time came she would tell, but now was not the time.
She quietly watched the girls in her class moan over not seeing their precious Negi-sensei, and wondered if she should go over there and help them. Maybe, she thought, she should help them with her "special abilities", as she often called them.
No, her bird whispered in her ear with a silent language only Zazie herself could understand. You can't help those humans with magic. They don't understand you.
"But," Zazie whispered quietly to her bird, "They're my classmates. Classmates help out other classmates, right?"
Well, the bird began, but was cut off by Zazie strolling out of the Haunted House and behind the large attraction.
Her bird flew off her shoulder and began twittering angrily at her. What the heck do you think you're doing?! he squaked angrily. There are humans around here! You'll be exposed if you do this!
"Be quiet," Zazie said calmly, which momentarily ceased the bird's silent scolding. She stuck out her palm and began muttering strange, incomprehensible words. In seconds, a bright light materialized in her palm which quickly became a shining light. After the light evaporated, a small child's stick topped with a star lay in her palm.
What's that for? The bird asked, narrowing his eyes at the toy. Why would you need a child's plaything?
"For magic," Zazie replied mysteriously. Gripping the star stick and waving it around, she began chanting in a foreign language while a magical seal appeared under her feet. Right next to her, at least five other seals began appearing. After a final sharp wave in the air, dark blobs with white mask-like faces came out of the seals, squirming and jiggling as though they were worms made of Jell-O.
"Master Zazie!" The smallest one breathed, a hint of joy in his voice, which was squeaky and high-pitched. "You've summoned us from the Abyss! What brings us to the human realm? After all, we are just Demon Remanents."
The other blobs bobbed their head in agreement.
"Well, Demon Remanents can be useful at times," Zazie said, pocketing in Star Stick in her jester costume. "But since I'm the best Demon Master in the Abyss, my Demon Remanents are the most powerful. But that's totally beside the subject at hand." She looked carefully at the Demon Remanents and said, "I called you for help."
Yeah, help with humans, the bird said distainfully. Zazie glared at the bird and continued. "I need all five of you -- maybe more -- to cover for my classmates. They need to see my teacher in a tournament, and I paticually don't care to see him. So, please, help me."
The Demon Remanents looked at each other as though daring each other to refuse Zazie's request. The biggest Demon Remanent spoke first. "Of course, Master Zazie. How could we say no?"
The other Demon Remnents nodded (or bobbed) and said things like, "Yeah!" and "Of course!"
A small smile broke out on Zazie's face, and she said, "Great. All right, then, follow me." She then eyed the bird disdainfully. "Aoi, you too. Come here. "
The bird, Aoi, sighed and fluttered down and perched on Zazie's shoulder. All right, he grumbled. I'll try to be good.
Satisfied, Zazie went back into the Haunted House and saw the girls crowded around Ayaka, who was still talking about seeing Negi. Knowing this would be her chance, she walked up behind Ayaka and tapped her on the shoulder.
Ayaka looked behind her to see Zazie. "Oh? Zazie-san?"
Zazie pointed to herself as though to say, "Don't worry. I'll cover for you."
Ayaka had obviously gotten the message as her eyes suddenly became all sparkly. "Honestly? You'll cover for me?"
She nodded.
"All of us?" Now all the girls had entered the fray, asking Zazie if she could cover for them.
Another nod.
"Wow! Zazie-chan, you're the best!"
"Seriously! Thanks!"
A chorus of appreciation flew around Zazie, but she merely nodded and smiled.
"Hey, Zazie-san." Zazie looked to see Fuuka tug on her sleeve. "Who's them?" she pointed at the Demon Remnants behind her, which to everyone probably resembled the No-Face character from Spirited Away.
"Friends." Zazie simply replied. And she was right.
They were her friends, despite being remnants of demons.
Her precious friends were helping her other precious friends. Just thinking that made her feel so happy.
