A meme, yes, I try to avoid them but I do get sucked in from time to time. I thought this would be a nice one for a group that's heavily larded w/ writers ( Read more... )

Remember when ....

we went ice skating that one time? I don't remember who's idea it was, especially since we were both as clumsy on the ice as we were with planning. It's never been a strong point. Not to mention the fact that it was one of the coldest days that year! We must have been insane, or at least on the edge of extreme boredom.

It was such a grey day, like everything was a black and white picture, some type of morose photo taken by a self-proclaimed 'deeply tormented' artist. Haha... we always found people that took themselves that seriously worth a laugh. I do remember one color though. Remember, ha, how could I forget that obSCENEly loud scarf of yours. Story was that you picked it up in some St. Vinnie's somewhere... not for the color, but for the softness... so you said. I'll concede that it had quite a cozy feeling to it, even through the discomfort I felt at having to wear such a garishly pigmented THING.. but you insisted I try it on. Hmph.

I really miss that scarf.

Then it started to snow, like something out of a hazy memory of christmas, from when I was a kid. I'm sure I idealize those moments now, but this time needed no positive slant. It was like someone shook up our own little snowglobe, and we were the little figures in it, falling on our asses on the ice. haha

And then...... THE FLYING MONKEY'S CAME!!!

Goofball.

I remember the surprise party I helped throw for you. You weren’t surprised. Somebody had slipped, or we were just too obvious in our machinations. (Yeah, that planning thing again.) But you acted the part quite well. You jumped and laughed breathlessly, greeting everyone with such astonishment. In truth, I think you were actually surprised that some people had made it. Especially Bob and Zoë; they drove all night to be there, drinking Mountain Dew and eating convenience store Slim Jims, then fell asleep on the couch before the party even hit full swing. They never woke up, so we left them there until it was time to go to that porn diner the next morning. Our crepe paper streamers hung limply, scotch tape slowly relinquishing its hold on the ceiling and walls. They began plummeting to the ground at about 11, giving the unintended impression of a ticker-tape parade. Tucker’s bassett hound bit a chunk out of the birthday cake, which had been left on a coffee table, so we cut out the dog slobber and served it anyway.

I think I'm the only one that really saw the look in your eyes. I knew you just didn’t want to disappoint our childish hopes of catching you off-guard for once. As we ate waffles the next morning, the sounds of XXX moans in the background, I suddenly grabbed your hand, fork and all, and squeezed my thanks.

I liked the scenario, just added a bit more juice. I’m glad you improve.

I thought I was going to be unique by approaching this from a non-sexual perspective, but as that seems to be the norm, and the bold memories of sensuality are the rare ones, perhaps I was mistaken.

And from how much you enjoy them and respond to them... I'm a bit envious. ;P Maybe another time.. another situation.. I'll show that side.

Yours is one of my favorites of all the memories, and certainly one that actually seems like me (though I am, in truth, a good planner.)

You can give me another in a different vein if you like - I don't seem to be tiring of this game.
