There were some parts of being a fuehrer that Roy could live without. The meetings that consisted of nothing but stubborn old men that knew keeping the old government would benefit them more then the people, the way everyone acted so afraid of him (well, except his old team), and the mandatory dinner parties. Why they were called parties he would never understand, for there certainly was not anything festive about them. Such parties were merely glorified meetings with food.

There was only a possibility for it to be interesting when a guest was attending. Edward had visited once, but after Roy and Riza had decided it would be best if was to be invited again.

The eldest Xingese princess, Xun Yao, who had taken the opportunity to study at a Central university for a year, came to one as well. By far she was not as disastrous as Ed, but it was clear she was rather annoyed by the attendees as well.

"Princess, what does your father say about-"

"Princess, about the silk trade between Xing and Amestris-"

"Princess, if I may have a moment."

Xun tried to be polite at first, but as the hounding continued her answers became shorter and more direct, often bordering rude.

"Poor kid." Roy said to Riza as they both watched the scene. "There's no way she could have prepared for that."

"I'm sure you're elated that they're leaving you alone for the most part, sir."

"Roy shrugged and laughed, "Well, that's true, I-" He trailed off, his sight drifting to the east wall, where a young women in a military uniform was watching the Princess closely. Her round green eyes and pigtails were unmistakable.

"Hawkeye," He said, lowering his voice. "What is SHE doing here?"

"Who, sir?" Riza answered, confused.

"Elicia!"

Riza sighed "Lieutenant Hughes has been assigned as the Princess's bodyguard as long as she is in Central."

"But, what is she doing in the military? How long ago did she join?"

"Considering her rank, I'd say awhile, sir."

"Hmm," Roy said, crossing his arms "I guess I'm just, surprised she joined, considering what happened to Maes."

Riza smirked "And who was it that said to never stop moving? Besides, she shares the Brigadier General's desire to help people anyway she can, it seems."

"As long as she doesn't share his tendency to be murdered in phone booths."

They resumed watching, and just as Xun looked as if she was going to murder the general walking up to her, Elicia stepped in.

"I apologize, General, but the Princess can take no more questions. She will be leaving shortly, as she has an important exam at the university tomorrow, and needs to be well rested."

Although the general was clearly disgruntled, he backed off, and Xun wasted no time heading to the door. As Elicia turned to follow her, she noticed Roy l and Riza looking. She straightened her back and saluted them. They returned it, and she followed Xun out the door. Roy smiled to himself.

Like father, like daughter.
