Who Needs College, Anyway?

The Nation -- Said Bush at the SOTU:
We must continue to lead the world in human talent and creativity. Our greatest advantage in the world has always been our educated, hardworking, ambitious people, and we are going to keep that edge.
p> So how are we going to do this?
By passing the largest cut ever in student aid. Yesterday's 216-214 House vote on the Deficit Reduction Act slashes $12.7 billion from federal student loan financing. Nearly half of all college students rely on federal loans, and now, thanks to this awesome new bill, they'll be paying much higher interest rates.
More money in the pockets of the rich and already educated + fewer poor and middle class kids going to college = a great way to stay competitive with the rest of the world, no?
