It is better to invest time in an extracurricular activity that you actually are passionate about, not just something that seems important and will reflect well on a resume. For example, a lot of college students get all rabble-rousy about political causes, a lot of them adopt the "crazy liberal" stance even though they may not even be educated on the issues they're "protesting". Things like that. Some students at Creighton would go on service trips just to make themselves look like good citizens. So it's good that you feel like doing something you actually want to and feel is truly important.
