Lee County -- An Albany Marine is behind bars tonight charged with attempting to entice a minor. The young teenager the 20-year-old Marine thought he was chatting with wasn't who she said she was.
Investigators says when twenty-year-old Marine Lance Corporal Daniel White got out of his cab if front of the Home Run Gas station in Lee County last week, he thought he was meeting two 13-year-old girls for sex, but what he got was far different.
Investigators say the event that lead to the Marine arrest started 3 weeks ago on the Internet where the Marine thought we was chatting with a 13-year-old girl from Lee County.
Investigators say he sent her explicit e-mails and a nude photos.
"He was pressuring her to meet him. That was the main thing. He was making very explicit sexual statements to her," says Chief Dennis Parker of the Lee County Sheriff Department.
But the girl White was talking to was really a college student working undercover with the Lee County Sheriff's Department looking for Internet predators.
"We are going to protect the children in our community, and we will do whatever it takes," says Parker.
By the time White had set up the meeting, the Sheriff's decoy, U.S. Marshalls, and sheriff's deputies were all in place to arrest him.
He thought we was meeting a 13-year-old girl, but instead, he ended up behind bars. A fate, Parker says, awaiting any Internet predator who crosses his department's path.
White is currently being held by the Marine Corps and could face more than 5 years in prison.
Yup, that was my roommate... he surely is a disgusting freak...
