❦ In depth:
Personality: Once upon a time, Kuzco was nothing but a self-obsessed jerk. Of course, being turned into a llama and going on a grand adventure changes a person. Kuzco really is (ultimately) a good guy, but... Well, sometimes old habits die hard. It can be easy to forget that he's not the center of the universe. At least he's got confidence - Kuzco is pretty sure he can do pretty much anything.
Still, he's not nearly as inconsiderate as he once was, although he still likes to poke fun. And he's never stopped being a fun-loving ball of somewhat immature energy. He is a much, much better friend now, though. Once he develops an attachment to someone, he's very loyal. Kuzco loves nothing more than a good time, and isn't really comfortable around unhappiness. He just doesn't do the heavy stuff all that well, but when he cares about someone, he can get a little deeper with them.
Kuzco adores attention. He loves to be in the spotlight, even after all he's been through - It's just always been and probably always will be a huge part of who he is. The difference now is that if he likes someone, he doesn't always mind sharing the spotlight with them.
Though he loves thrills and will tackle some very scary things without batting an eye, it must be noted that Kuzco is kind of spaz when things go wrong. He reacts strongly to a lot of things, and jumps to conclusions fairly often. He's also quite sarcastic, even now. It's just his sense of humor.
Canon Background: Boom, baby!
AU Background: Kuzco was born heir to the expansive kingdom known as Kuzcotopia. Born into privilege and luxury, he was never without want. One day, his father went sailing out to see, never to be seen again. At around the same time, his mother went missing. At that point, he assumed the throne.
During his reign over Kuzcotopia, he was displeased with his lead advisor Yzma for taking over his duties behind his back. Embittered and vengeful, Yzma swore to get revenge on Kuzco and to steal his throne. She did so by attempting to poison him at dinner. The plot failed, and instead, the botched attempt had turned him into a llama. Attempts to dispose of him failed even more when Kronk ended up losing him in the countryside. There he was luckily taken care of by a peasant named Pacha and his family. Eventually with Pacha’s help, he returned to his normal human form and took his rightful place as emperor, albeit changed from the experience.
Unfortunately, one of the potions he was exposed to during the event has had long term consequences. Every time Kuzco is hit with a certain amount of force, he turns into a random animal after a loud, obnoxious poof.
After receiving the letter from the academy, he immediately accepted. What good is ruling over a kingdom if there’s no one to rule over? His people are closest to the location of the black mist, which he can’t sit back and idly ignore. (That and that mouse has GOT to have a way to reverse this stupid, stupid curse. But you know. It’s mainly the other what’s-it-called… ‘selfless’ thing. Totally. Yeeeeah).

Greatest Fear: Losing the limelight or his position as Emperor. Kuzco thrives off of attention, and even though he's matured, he still really needs it - And he still probably couldn't manage if he was kicked out of the cushy lifestyle he's so used to.
That being said, though he may not be so willing to admit it, he’s probably more scared about losing his family - Pacha, Chicha, Chaca, Tipo, Upi, and Mulan. He never had a real family and it’s so nice to have one now… He doesn’t want to lose that.
How long have they been at the school(remember this school is from kindergarten on): A fair while now.

Kissing/hugging/etc: Um, hugging is fine, except he won't like it unless you're Pacha or Mulan or something. Same with kissing, although that really should be reserved for Mulan, anyway. Nothing beyond that, please!
