H50 is like an urban fantasy show, the team does what can't be done, what isn't allowed. It is like the id vs. the ego of cop shows. It is darker and that is not for everyone. I do wish they did explore those consequences more, because that would make good drama, but I don't think TPTB can do anything that complex

I highly doubt that any parent who's child has been buried alive would blink at what Steve and Danny did to get them back safe. I mean, would you as a parent go “stop, get that man a lawyer, because that is the morally correct thing to do."

Of course not. Is it, right? No. Is it ugly? Yes.

We want our law enforcement officers to be held to a higher standard - it is what separates them from those who do break the law. But life is often times muddy and the show offers that outlet. And again not the way RL should be. More like Dark Knight type urban fantasy.

Some of the stuff on your list..um...yeah, it is kind of off the wall. Wow.

But, I actually like H50 for it's ridiculousness. It's an escape. There is nothing else with the kind of action/adv on TV. I can watch CSI, Law & Order etc if I want something with more realistic legalities.

I like NCIS. Not as much as I used to, but it's the number one show on TV and look how many times Gibbs and company has bent the law?

I totally get that it bothers you. It is a violent show with a morally slippery slope. It would be nice for more balance, for maybe Steve and Danny to sit down and really talk about the lines they cross. I’d love to see that, but I don't think the show will ever go that route.

This is a popcorn show and not everyone liked popcorn and that is totally cool. :)

You're right it's fantasy escapism and I should accept it as that. I guess if the show had started in this dark, violent way I would be ready for it but it didn't.

I appreciate your thoughts. Always well considered and argued - not surprising from one of the best writers in fandom.

It has gotten darker that is for sure. I could barely watch the Chin in prison eppy because of the violence. For me personally, it's just a 42 break from RL when I can turn my brain off for a while.

It's a good discussion topic. There is no right or wrong sides. Just opinions :)
