The increasingly questionable morals of H50I’ve been thinking about this since last night’s episode and I need to get it out so all of you have to suffer through my ramblings. Sorry

I treat H50 violence the same way that I treat cartoon and action movie violence. It isn't real, and I don't think that the series' creators and writers' expect it to be taken that way. The reality procedurals are shows like CSI, L&O, and Criminal Minds, and even they fail at some things. In reality, Steve, Danny, and company would not be allowed to do these things nor would a Governor sanction them. I'm an American, and all of the 50 states have a state constitution that mirrors the U.S. Constitution, and neither of these would allow citizens' and suspects' rights to be trampled this way. Just no. All of Five-0's cases would be thrown out by the courts, and they would all be fired for excessive use of force at the least. They would probably face civil and criminal trials too.
I can handle Steve and Danny beating up bad guys in the series, but if it were happening to real people in the real world I would find it appalling and take issue with it. I did take issue with Chin killing the man who killed Malia, and I'm still wondering if he will ever face any ramifications for that later on. Even in fiction, I draw the line at murder, and that's what that was. Fictional people beating each other up doesn't bother me because I know everybody walks away in the end. But, I can't condone good guys being executioners. That's even too much for me to rationalize away.
I find the Kono/Adam storyline to be the most interesting thing the series has done with Kono; so, I just want more of it even though I know in reality it would get her in a heap of trouble and no real officer would engage in a relationship with a man with mob ties.
My answer probably isn't the one you wanted, but it is my take on the subject.
Your answer is what you thought so I welcome it. Didn't expect everyone to agree with me (although they should because I'm always right! Like, always!).
I can take most violence that way too, even some of the beating up, but to murder and to beat a handcuffed man to me is beneath the dignity of the 5-0 team and not the show I started watching in the first year. Back then Steve's methods were crazy but amusing, now his and the teams are disturbing - for me anyway.
Having said all this, I recently wrote a story where Steve planted drugs on a guy to protect Danny so I guess I shouldn't get too high up on my moral horse.
