[DIVINATION]
Unseen Moments

Unfinished Scene 1:
Frantic Knight Bus ride in process. Shrunken Head shrieks, “You’re missing your turn, you’re missing your turn, you’re missing your turn!” The bus is suddenly whipped into maddening blur over a street marker resembling a curly arrow. Harry clings to handrail, screaming as he spins around the pole with the nauseating speed of a gymnast, body parallel to the floor. The driver suddenly cranks the break and the bumper of a Muggle car. Harry manages to get his feet beneath him, but in the abrupt is propelled into the windshield where he has a lovely face-plant. Outside, the car alarm erupts.

Unfinished Scene 2:
Camera follows the light, capricious flight of a bird with the cheerful trills of a flute as it flutters carelessly throughout the bridge and bell tower of Hogwarts. The bird begins flitting about an irritated Hagrid, who attempts to smack, then clap the bird soundly between his paws. The bird mockingly escapes only to run into the branches of the Whomping Willow and explode mid-air in a puff of feathers.

Unfinished Scene 3:
In the Great Hall, Ron and Hermoine catch Harry up on what he’s missed while they were out at Hogsmeade. More interesting, however, are the weird gags and goings-on of the other carefree students. The camera leisurely pans them as they are showboating their bizarre gifts and pulling pranks on each other. Ron presents Harry with a Sneak-o-Scope.
Harry half-heartedly accepts, unwittingly popping a not so sweet treat into his mouth, nearly gagging.

Unfinished Scene 4:
A ridiculous mock-up of a knight waves away Gryffindors from their portrait hole with crazed swipes of his sword. Students loudly gripe about the disappearance of the Fat Lady; Neville complaining that he now has to keep a list, as the knight is constantly the password. The knight makes some silly offer of chivalry towards them. Ron flatly derides this, muttering, “Sure, we’ll call you -if we ever need anyone mental.” Other students snicker.

Unfinished Scene 5:
A Ruffled McGonagall and pajama-clad students are roused by Ron’s assertions that Sirius Black has entered the Gryffindor tower. Sir Cadagon (sp), caught molesting a young maiden in another portrait, rudely barges other paintings, informing McGonagall that a stranger entered through the portrait hole reading the password of a piece of paper. McGonagall rounds on Neville and lectures the group on responsibility. Ron suddenly snips at pigtailed Hermione for the death of Scabbers. Hermione sniffles over to Harry for comfort, who is staring w/dark intensity in the crackling fire. He growls to himself that he missed his chance to kill the slayer of his parents, who he unwittingly let slip from his fingers.

[CREATING THE VISION]

*According to J.K. Rowling, Prisoner of Azkaban was the easiest book to write*
*The abstract concept of The Time Turner appealed to director Alfonso Cuaron and he based his decision to get on board after reading it in the book*

*Sorcerer’s Stone & Chamber of Secrets & director Chris Columbus expected to meet a 70-year-old grey wizened man when told he was meeting the author of Harry Potter*

*J.K. felt that Cuaron created a wonderful tone of darkness to introduce Harry’s seething angst*

*Tom Felton actually encouraged Emma Watson to punch him full-on in the face for the famous scene where Hermione decks Draco*

*J.K.’s drawn map of Hogwarts became dubbed The Set Builder’s Bible*

*Cuaron initially wanted the death of Buckbeak to take place in a cemetery. J.K. would not allow it, as it canonically did not exist near Hagrid’s pumpkin patch*

*J.K. admits that Cuaron’s vision unwittingly foreshadows major things to come in the last two books of the series*

*No one on Columbus’ special effects team was pleased with the results of Sorcerer’s Stone*

*Very few drawings depicting a Hypogriff exist, so J.K and Cuaron designed Buckbeak’s look from scratch*
*J.K. comments that Dementors could very well be the figment of a mentally ill mind*

*Set designers came up with the idea of the Shrunken Heads on the bus*
