Silence before the storm

Aug 16, 2005 11:59

Stepping outside just now, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of mystery. All was quiet and dark. There was a man tending to his flowers across the street and a woman walking by herself. Two sparrows moved cautiously from tree to tree, keeping their chirps low. There was no wind, not a breeze could be felt. Faint thunder could be heard in the far off distance. It was sensational and unnerving.

It is now high noon, though no one would guess it. Clouds cover the sun and let down their tears of rain. Thunder now shakes the window panes and the silent leaves are disturbed by heavy drops. The gardner hurries with his tools and seeks warmth and comfort inside his home. Excitement and adventure are on their way.

A storm is coming.
