I've officially been home for Colorado for 20 hours now. When I woke up this morning I expected to still be in the beautiful mountains with another leisurely day ahead of me. Unfortunately I was in my own bed, with a day of laundry and shopping for school supplies ahead of me instead. Yuck.
My trip was amazing! We left at 11:00 PM on Sunday night with a caravan of five cars. We were going to drive through the night so we could arrive at 2 PM the following day for check in. Stopping every 2-2.5 hours for bathroom breaks, it was definitely a long night. I slept only two hours because the suburban was extremely cramped and I was way too excited to sleep! Driving through Nebraska was also the most boring 6 hours of my entire life! I am positive there are more cows in that state than there are people! Finally at noon on Monday we arrived in Idaho Springs, Colorado where we stocked up on groceries and alcohol before getting into Winter Park. My car also stopped at
Tommyknocker Brewery for lunch and a beer. I'm glad we stopped because it was absolutely amazing! I suggest it to anyone driving on I-70 through Colorado! Finally we arrived at Winter Park and checked into our condos. Everyone from my school was in the same condo building so we could all hang out together!
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were all spent on the slopes of Winter Park, Mary Jane! We couldn't get to the top of Parsenn Bowl the first two days due to high winds, but we did make it up there Thursday and Friday. The view was amazing! Snowboarding in the mountains is absolutely the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life. Coming from Minnesota, we snowboard on hills with tiny runs and lots of ice. In the mountains the runs are miles long, and full of powder. Powder is HEAVENLY!
Most nights we just hung out and relaxed but Wednesday night was spent at a Tech N9ne concert on the base of the mountain. Just imagine, a bunch of white skiing and snowboarding kids going to a concert meant for black people. There were no black people at the concert, and I ended up in the front row somehow! There were lots of drinks, and lots of good times! It was an amazing vacation and I'm really glad I decided to go. There will definitely be return trips in the future!
Tomorrow is the last first day of undergraduate school I will ever have. 4 months left until I move to Texas! Can't Wait!
