Tegoshi to become NTV's main caster for the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 + NEWS theme song 'BLUE'
Tegoshi Yuya has been appointed as the main caster for the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, opening on June 14. He has been assigned as a soccer caster since 2012 and this is the second time he'll be working as the main caster for the FIFA World Cup since Brazil 2014. It's also planned that he'll be going to Russia to hold interviews and report the matches from the playing field.
He said he's honored to be chosen as the main caster again for the World Cup after the previous one in Brazil. The World Cup is held once every four years and the world becomes a huge festival where everyone gets excited and can enjoy the soccer superstars and their plays. So Tegoshi enthusiastically said that he would like to deliver the heat of the FIFA World Cup festival to everyone. He also added "The force of the players comes from their supporters. Please send your power to the players of the national team who play in the Russia tournament!"
Furthermore, NEWS will sing the theme song for the tournament. The title is BLUE and it represents the Earth's color as the event draws the whole world's attention, and also the color of Japan's national soccer team. It's a spirited fight song that portrays the "bond" of NEWS that is celebrating their 15th anniversary this year. The powerful joint singing and Nippon call in the chorus are a must hear.
