Well, today was pretty much awesome, especially after being so emotional and worn out yesterday! It's been quite the winter... nothing whatsoever compared to what so many across the country deal with, but big for Texans. Just lots of clouds, ice and snow (lots for us), missed work, power outages, sickness, etc. I'm just thankful we made it through January before so much of it struck, thereby sparing the month from further censure from this one woman who was sure it was out to get me. :-) Anyway, we've succumbed to the flu once again- third year running- and it's just been something. Something not so cool. :-)
But today!!! Today was God's reminder to me that there is ALWAYS a better day coming. This, too, shall pass! The weather was sunshine and warm breezes and 70-something degrees. The windows were open to air out the sick germs floating around and let in some of that spring-ness.
You know what I did? As I told Jonathan, I left the house to rot for a few hours and went outside with my girls. Mia got nearly her fill of being pushed on the tire swing, Tirzah ran and played and picked up roly-polies and sang. I was eyeing the plants near the house, dried and brown, and comparing them to corn husks. This led to the thought of corn husk dolls and during a tire swing intermission two little ladies were crafted from those dried and brown plants. Tirzah was playing in the mud and before I knew it I was there with her, and then the little ladies had a cup and a bowl and a plate. Tirzah later filled them with tiny berry-looking things from around the yard. We sat in the grass, got gloriously muddy- all of us!- soaked up the sun, and had a wonderful time.
And you know what? The house DIDN'T rot and it wasn't all that hard to catch up when we came inside, even adding in an impromptu afternoon bath for my muddy little girls. :-) Who out there thinks girls don't get dirty? Mine sure do. :-)
It was a funny story, too, telling Jonathan about running to rinse off my INCREDIBLY slimy and muddy hands in order to receive my beautiful day-after-Valentine's roses from the UPS man! :-D
It was just a great day. And since I seem to always post about my terrible days, I just thought I'd pop in with something more cheery. :-)
