School started this Monday, and this is how my schedule looks like for this year. It's not final yet, but it's not going to suffer major changes. Random thoughts/clarifications:
-in the Romanian school system, you don't get to choose classes; it's probably more like in Soviet Russia, where the classes choose you :) ; anyway, you get assigned classes depending on the 'profile' of the class you're in, which you get to choose after taking an exam at the end of middle school; naturally, the higher your exam score is, the greater the chance to get in a class of your choice; the 'profile' of my class is math-computer science-english, which means I focus (more or less) on these 3 subjects (if this sounds ridiculous, one of the other classes in my school has the profile math-computer science-computer science).
-Tuesday schedule looks overwhelming (except possibly for math, where I can do whatever I want...well math related, of course); hopefully it's not going to stay like this.
-CS class from 2pm? no...
-as much as I hated 7 am classes last year, staying until 3 pm at school is a lot more painful.
-Molecular Topology looks quite exciting ( I'm the only one in my class to believe this...), though we're probably going to do Chemistry for most of those classes ( the teacher is the same for both ).
-I can't do Sport at school due to some health problems, but the school system is evil and makes you go to those classes and do absolutely nothing.
-the Counseling class is basically talking to our 'class master' ( it's so hard to translate concepts that do not exist in the language you're translating to...) about various things; my class master is my Physics teacher.
-the Culture and Civilization class is in English and it's about...well the culture and civilization (d'oh) of the UK and US; I also had this class last year, and it was pretty cool; we got to watch movies and read books and it was fun; there's a new teacher this year, though, so it might be different this time.
This school year is going to be really Ntense. First there's college apps ( in the States ), and consequently SAT I (16 days...) and II and also TOEFL ( not too hard, but with a ridiculously complex structure). Then there's the Romanian Baccalaureate exam, the English and Computer Science papers for the diploma and the admission exam for the University of Bucharest, in case I'm not going to the US for college. At the same time, I need to keep up with problem solving and do lots of math contests. Like 15 of them. I so can't wait for this year to be over...
Also, I miss MC. A lot. But in the positive way. Which means reading the yearbook puts me in a good mood. Incidentally, I've been under the impression my last LJ post was the Easter one, so I was really surprised to discover my pre-camp post. Whoa, pre-Mathcamp, that seems like such a long time ago... * sigh *
One more thing...
