Thailand 2013, day 1

Jan 10, 2013 20:18

For english guru: please, excuse me for my poor english vocabulary and grammar. I just don't have a cyrillic letters on wife's laptop keyboard, which was bought in Baltimore's "Best buy". And i don't want to write in transliteration. And i don't have a skill of using that "touch skill method" on a keyboard, so...

10th of January 2013.
So we safely arrived to Krabi airport, and in the line to our tour operator to get in the bus (still in the airport) one thai lady gave us both a necklace decorated with flowers (you can see it on Kate's chest in the video below). That's what i call thai hospitality! Then Toyota minivan took us to the pier,

where boats were parking and taking people to the further destinations. Some rocks remind me of James Cameron's Avatar. Maybe it has some influence on his imagination product. Then one of those boats took us to Anyavee Railay Resort - our hotel, where reception is just 20 meters from the shore, in the open air under the roof. It was first time for both of us to travel in such boat, and as for me, of course it reminded me of all those movies about the war in Vietnam like "Platoon", "Apocalypse now" and so on (including Simpsons parodies on films about the war in Vietnam).

Oh lord, my mind is so yankeeish-thinking. Or maybe i'm just impressionable. Those movies are great, anyway. Our boat couldn't get close to the shore because of shallow water, so we (there were 6 of us, who arrived from the airport) took our shoes off, got outside right in the water and did the rest of the way (maybe 30-40 meters) by ourselves. It was so cosy (=comfortable) to feel warm sea water after travelling almost 9 hours by air. And there was a thai guy, who was carrying our luggage through the sea on a cart.

So we registered in a wooden bungalow, (all pictures in the post are clickable for a better resolution)

and went to find a place to eat. We had mushroom cream soup, corn cream soup, fried rice with tofu, french fries, lemon and mango lemonade or somesuch.

In all, we had a great vegetarian dinner. Later after that we met the sunset on the shore. It was marvelous. Never before i've been in a place with such a wildlife and monkeys on the trees right behind us =) People say they like to steal tourist's stuff, so we have to be careful. Now i'm sitting outdoors behind the reception, where wi-fi zone is. So the first day is over.
