What I like about "Batman" (whether it's comic books, movies, animated series or live show) is villains. They're not just typical bad-guys (they are all badasses though). There's always a story which reveals the path from regular citizen to uncanny criminal. And you always can understand, feel and sympathise them.
Batman himself is not very simple and definately not that saint. That's exactly why "Superman" will never get even close to "Batman's" position in my top.
But again, on Gotham's villains' background he looks plain and pale.
