He had loved his mother--Eve. After so many centuries, she was still the one he thought of as his mother. But he'd lost so many others, and the last set he'd lost was still another bleeding wound. It hurt, but it was a pain he'd dealt with. He didn't miss them, simply because he couldn't.

Because that's what missing someone is like. Doubly so when missing one's biological parents is something that he was both once all too familiar and now becoming more and more alien with, but the concept of missing was something he still understood rather clearly, to a point that LESS would be preferable.
