I read three books lately whose protagonists were children:

-Cruddy by Lynda Barry - This is the novel Hunter S. Thompson would have written if he were a sixteen year old girl. But with a higher body count. Very creepy and difficult to put down. Lynda Barry is apparently better known for her graphic novels. I'd be interested to check them out.

-Coraline by Neil Gaiman - A fun little kids' adventure book.

-Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie - This was the novel he wrote after The Satanic Verses. It's about a magical journey to save the source of all stories.

Then I read a sort of conspiracy theory book:

-The Men who Stare at Goats by Jon Ronson - About paranormal tactics in the US government. Written in a chatty style that's completely hilarious.
