Yoochun's laughter was harboring on obnoxious. They had gotten out of the car and within thirty seconds the pile of wood and glass that used to be their kitchen furniture and dishes had caught the man's eye- for whatever reason it was the most hilarious thing ever. Yunho wasn't amused though, even as he watched Yoochun trip over a stray tree root hiding in the grass he could feel his mouth curling into a frown.

He wasn't a control freak, really, he had never felt the need to have absolute control over his pack mates, he just wished them to get along the best they could and have enough respect not to murder each other. The appearance of Jaejoong had rocked the boat more than he really wanted to admit to or acknowledge and the most logical choice seemed to be to just get rid of the lone wolf.

Lone wolves ended up that way for a reason he knew. They tended to be strong and more aggressive than wolves with a pack, those sorts of traits were extremely appealing given the turf wars lately.

However most loners were older, far too set in their ways to be useful to a pack. Jaejoong was still young- if he could be tamed, groomed somehow into an obedient beta any pack that could keep him would be a threat. Not to mention the level of dominance required to fix such a wolf would have been marveled at.

Jaejoong was kind of like a prize, a pretty little trophy that could rip your heart out.

At least that was what he had gathered after settling down with Jea and Miryo that morning. He had carefully sent Yoochun off with a list of Changmin's demands so he could meet with them.

They didn't have many allies, but there were two other packs Yunho could say he trusted with his life. One of those packs was just as odd as his own, led by and made up mostly of females, Miryo was their alpha and the older woman had actually been the one who had inspired his own laid back style.

"The important thing is leadership, Yunho-yah. If you can lead well they will gladly follow, but if you dictate you won't recognise the rebellion until your throat has already been slit."

Back then the words had sent chills down his spine, but they had stuck with him and that had eventually found him snatching Junsu before Miryo had been able to. On occasion  the incident still came up, but he often laughed it off with a sheepish grin.

Junsu was a special one and more important to Yunho than the white wolf would probably ever realise. Despite his at times difficult quirks they would fall apart without him. Surely that went for any of them at that point.

Except for the lone wolf. Miryo had seemed amused speaking of him, reciting all of the tales she had heard in detail but something had changed once he'd mentioned having the wolf in custody of sorts. Something bright had shone in the woman's eyes and even Jea beside her had perked up considerably.

Then there had been a lot of questions, why, how, when, where... Fortunately he had asked his own questions before his admittance because he had been sure they would have been ignored otherwise.

Nonetheless Miryo would be paying them a visit soon and it seemed crucial that he  figured things out before she arrived.

What was it about Jaejoong that drove everyone crazy was the first mystery he needed to tackle. Keeping him as a prize sounded absolutely ridiculous, a status symbol wasn't worth risking that kind of discord, was it?

"Yah, get up!" Yunho huffed, jerking himself from his thoughts as he regarded Yoochun's lazy form, "if you have an asthma attack I will leave you here to die, Park."

For a few moments he received no reply, and then slowly Yoochun rolled over and picked himself up from the ground, carefully picking stray blades of grass from his clothing.

"Well excuse me for being amused that someone has actually waged war with the kitchen table."

___

Inside the house everything had calmed. Five bodies were gathered in the living space, curtains drawn tight and room cast in shadows.

Changmin was on the couch, propped up by the arm rest pressed against his lower back with Junsu perched in his lap. His arms were locked firmly around the blonde's waist, chin resting against the chemical tortured locks as he observed the movie they had put on.

"What is this called again?" Dongwoo chimed from his place,  stretched out on the floor with Woohyun's pressed close to his side.

"Kill Bill, is it really that hard to remember?"

"It is old and American," he continued, shaking his head, "and none of them have normal names, why would I remember that?"

"Way to channel Junsu."

Woohyun's protest had been immediate, "that is cold, Changmin, take it back."

The playful jab had gone completely over Junsu's head though, tension from earlier melted away as he found contentment curled up in the nurse's lap. The blonde's attention was focused firmly on the television, captivated and perhaps a bit confused about what was going on.

"Death centers are terrible places!" he nearly shrieked, the sound sudden and high pitched causing Changmin to jerk in surprise, "a crazy person can just walk in and do whatever they want if they whistle?"

Immediately the nurse realised Kill Bill was perhaps not the best movie to put on. Soothingly he trailed his fingers over the older man's side, ignoring the strangled sounds of laughter that both Dongwoo and Woohyun attempted to muffle with their hands.

"This is just a movie, Su-ah, none of this happened and no, hospitals do not work that way."

"No, no," the blonde continued, shaking his head as he did so, "If something ever happens to me and you are not there to fix me I absolutely just want to die."

There was a certain weight to such words, that Junsu managed to utter them so easily- and even laugh after, nearly disturbed him. But Changmin didn't protest, much rather he made a sound of agreement as he slid down against the couch cushions until the two of them were almost laying down.

Silence lapsed quickly over the group, lack of words comfortable as they listened and watched the movie while it played.  The moment the The Bride had suddenly jerked to consciousness happened in perfect harmony with the sound of the front door swinging open- Dongwoo yelled out in surprise.

Rushed foot steps entered the living room and the light was suddenly on, a scattered looking Yoochun stood along side Yunho who merely arched a brow curiously. There was no bloodshed and nobody was dead although the smell of bleach was generally present.

"Might I ask what happened while we were gone?" the alpha practically dead panned, "or at the very least what the yelling is about?"

"Oh! Changmin put on erm... uh-"

"Kill Bill."

"Yes! Yes, Kill Bill, because Junsu, Jaejoong and I have never seen it before," Dongwoo continued, flailing his hands around slightly, "it is kind of scary."

Almost immediately Yunho found himself parroting, "Jaejoong?"

Woohyun cut in that time, nudging Dongwoo in the side, "ah- yes he helped clean up earlier. Right Jaejoong? ... Jaejoong?"

Without an immediate answer four heads turned glancing towards the arm chair where the red head had settled down. Much to the relief of everyone the man was still there, but he had curled himself into a ball, apparently asleep.

The alpha's gaze remained fixated on the lithe form, but he looked to be battling with himself, at least somewhat.

"Have you removed his stitches yet, Changmin-ah?"

Before Yunho had even been able to look in the man's direction a strained noise reached out to him. It spoke well enough, and he held a hand up simply, shaking his head just once.

"I'm going to take him back upstairs," he informed, perhaps needlessly as he approached the lone wolf, "I want the lot of you to turn this movie off and help collect everything from the car. Don't wander off, please, I will speak to you all soon."

Save for sounds of affirmation and the television suddenly going silent nobody seemed to move around them. He frowned and then decided such a thing didn't matter at all. Children, the lot of them practically were, children who were too nosy for their own good.

The small attempt to shake Jaejoong back to consciousness didn't work. It made him wonder truly- if the red head was narcoleptic or if there was perhaps something else that found him attempting to catch up on sleep. None of those thoughts survived very long, sleep patterns replaced instead with thoughts of smell and touch.

Jaejoong was surprisingly light, and for someone who had refused to wake on his request the red head seemed able to relax as he was lifted bridal style, head lulling and falling to rest on the alpha's shoulder.

"The car," the words were repeated on his way toward the stairs.

Yet nobody moved until the faint creaking of stairs was replaced the the opening and closing of a door upstairs.

"Car!" Junsu barked suddenly, prying the arms from around his waist.

___

He had bypassed Junsu's room without giving it a second thought. The white wolf had all but moved out of the room to make space for the red one, and he found he didn't like that. So to his room they had gone, door nudged open with only mild inconvenience and then closed behind him with his foot.

His room was the largest in the house, a simple black and white scheme encased the space in entirety and according to the others it made him seem boring. But it was just a place to sleep, somewhere to occasionally barricade himself in for privacy when he wanted it. Privacy however seemed to be the least of his concerns if only because he had brought the lone wolf into his space.

Brought him in and then took extreme care of placing him in bed, even. It was a confronting sight, the strange man with ivory skin and fiery hair a sharp contrast to his dark bedding.

___

Between the lot of them gathered around the table and a strange tension lingering in the air the dining room felt extremely small.  Junsu was beginning to grow restless, while Yoochun and Dongwoo looked positively bored out of their minds. They were still waiting for Yunho to settle whatever he was doing and join them.

Changmin hated it whenever they had to gather in one space for any reason that did not involve food. Regardless of subject matter any sort of pack meeting pushed Junsu into a very impersonal mindset and he didn't enjoy meeting that side of the other again. They had been playing a rather intense game of table tennis all day and he was ready to surrender in the form of chucking his paddle at the blonde man's face and flipping the table.

"What kind of pack meeting takes place without an alpha?"  Dongwoo drawled, practically yawning through the words.

Surely they could afford to wait,  but in the mean time couldn't at least some of them found something productive to do?

Nobody attempted to rise though, not when Junsu was quick to cement their waiting, "I did not dismiss any of you."

Snarling under his breath the tallest slammed his fist against the table, making the vase centered on the surface jump nervously.

"Nor did I," a familiar voice added, and each set of eyes shifted toward the door way in which Yunho stood, just as quickly as each of them had looked heads were bowed and sets of eyes were turned down to the table.

Meetings between them were rarer happenings, usually before a shift if necessary, but the last one had been a few months ago, following one of the spats between Junsu and Changmin.

"In a few days time Miryo will be visiting," the alpha continued, striding further into the room, posture stick straight as he spoke, "she has expressed interest in the lone wolf, should all go well I intend to release him to her."

The words were a statement, a fact or what was to come and it was met with silence. Off to his side Changmin watched Junsu's posture tense and his brows furrow, but the man's mouth was pursed into a tight, thin line. The displeasure was plainly visible, but the blonde man did not speak up.

Neither did he intend to speak out to play into whatever grand scheme the beta had been planning.

But someone did speak out, a chair shrieked lowly in protest as Dongwoo stood up, his posture was timid at best and beside him Woohyun, previously uninterested, seemed to be just the slightest bit mortified.

"I don't want Jaejoong to go," the words were articulated carefully but Dongwoo's eyes remained glued to the table as he spoke, head tilted forward slightly,  "you can't just throw him away."

Yunho was known for his patience and understanding.  He wasn't the sort that would jump down one of their throats because they had indirectly ordered him around.  Occasionally agitation would flare up in him- but he'd been a man much longer than he'd been a beast- a wolf.

"The wolf upstairs is a stray, he isn't a part of this pack. It would be in our best interest if he were to go."

The matter wasn't one he intended to leave up for discussion- upon simply weighing the pros and cons given the stories that had been passed on to him Jaejoong posed too much of a risk. They were too small of a group to allow someone who could tear them apart in.

"Junsu took orders from him," he tattled,  jerking his head upwards to look over at the white wolf who growled at him in warning, "surely he has other ideas."

The tension returned in a wave, pulling silence back over the group, from where Woohyun was sitting one of his hands had found way to the belt Dongwoo wore, curling around the leather  as though it were means to steer the man away from trouble. If only he'd tried it minutes ago. Even Yoochun who tended to have little interest  in the occasional squabbling had perked up, leaning to peer from behind Yunho so he could get a better look at the beta wolf.

There was a cheeky grin plastered over Yoochun's features.

"Take a walk with me, Junsu."

___

Like small children they all scattered.

As soon as the front door had swung closed bodies gathered in whatever window offered a view of both the alpha and beta wolf as they walked. Yunho's posture was rigid, shoulders properly squared and back straight as they moved, and Junsu seemed to notice, shoulders slumping as they moved.

There had been plenty of glaring from Changmin and a strong desire to shove at Dongwoo for opening his mouth- but before he had even been able to think about making a grab for him Yoochun had been in his way, smacking him on the forehead.

No, he'd been scolded like a petulant puppy.

Then he had sighed and found a window to monopolise so he could watch Junsu and Yunho walk along side each other through the lacy curtains.

When ten minutes had passed the windows became useless.

___

Two at a time Changmin climbed the stairs. When Junsu's room turned up empty  he turned sharply on his heel and it was cautious steps that carried him towards Yunho's bedroom.

No one entered the space often and when Yunho wasn't there nobody ever did.

This time around he had an excuse.

Without knocking he nudged the door open and invited himself inside. When the door closed behind him Changmin leaned into it, he was nearly startled upon looking up and finding the red haired man watching him.

Jaejoong was quite still, like a statue as opposed to a living, breathing anything; if it hadn't been for the stark contrast of colours he was almost certain he wouldn't have even realised the room was being occupied at all.

"Everything," Changmin begins, taking a step forward, "you're going to tell me everything."

"Am I?" the man drawls, lips quirking into a haughty smile that infuriated the nurse.
