"Most nights I cry
I hate who I am
I wish I was you
I wish I could look back and have the things you have
Why can’t I shake this
I try to ignore
I just want to wake up
I just want to forget all these things that I know
Sometimes it’s okay to feel sorry for yourself
To know that this isn’t fair
Sometimes it’s okay to let the past haunt you
I know that you don’t care
Please
Can’t you wait
Maybe I’m not ready
Maybe I need a little more time
Things I never did
Live in regret
I hear a cry
I hear me crying because I lost a former life
Thing I never had
Dreams disappear
I look in your eyes
I look at a life only one of us lived
Sometimes it’s okay to feel sorry for yourself
To know that this isn’t fair
Sometimes it’s okay to let the past haunt you
I know that you don’t care
Please
Can’t you wait
Maybe I’m not ready
Maybe I need a little more time
Sometimes it’s okay to feel sorry for yourself
To know that this isn’t fair
Sometimes it’s okay to let the past haunt you
I know that you don’t care
Please
Can’t you wait
Maybe I’m not ready
Maybe I need a little more time"
This song is about living life in regret and the pain of constantly being reminded by people close to you that they don't. It's what you feel when everyone else shares stories of great things done and achieved and your stuck with quiet tales that don't seem important enough to talk about. It's about pleading with yourself and with others to try to understand where you're coming from but you don't even know yourself. It's also about the frustration and pain of knowing certain things about others and wishing you could replace that knowledge with beautiful memories. I wrote this one night when I was stranded and no one was interested in passing time with me but instead went out with others people to add to the memories I don't have. A little sad, yes, but written in wide-eyed desparation with a thick veil of depression looming over my notepad and me that night. It's not about people feeling sorry for me or anyone, but just expressing what it's like for those who don't know.
