SOOOOOO...
Yesterday during my data training, we all got an email telling us there was a mandatory meeting in a few minutes. Our trainer seemed kinda distraught. He just told us to lock our computers and go downstairs... Our entire center was off the phone and this never happens.
When we all settled in (about 500 people!) they gave a very short and simple announcement... They're going to close our call center on June 29.
They're offering to relocate us with $10,000 relocation stipend, but moving just isn't what I want to do... My entire family is here in Michigan. And my house that won't sell for what we owe on it. All for what? A company that will close more centers as the years go on? Fuck that.
My other option would be applying for retail, but I do NOT want to do high-pressure sales all day long plus having to stand on my feet for 8 hours a day.
So, I guess I'll ride it out until June 29 and collect my severance package and find another job. I've got awesome friends who have teamed up to offer me jobs at their places, so that makes me happy. I won't take any action until June.
