back when the facebook newsfeed controversy was roarin' a few weeks ago,
my pal JD at Columbia was writing a column about it for the school paper
and I urged him to use the line, "The facebook news feed is our generation's Vietnam."
Just playfully mocking the online passion with which we protested it. It's also sortof an implicit joke about the way our generation's more literal Vietnam, Iraq, is mostly just shrugged about.
He agreed that it was a funny concept and wrote the column,
and then tonight he was googling around and found this old article from the San Francisco Chronicle
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/09/12/MNG5HL3S631.DTL check out the paragraph near the bottom beginning "By 2:15 p.m. last Tuesday."
