I thought I could get by and not care about politics. I thought that I could just take care of myself and not care about the human race fucking itself over.
I'm going to fight a war.
I should have been fighting it long ago.
The real problem is the hatred. America despises everything un-American. Gays and Muslims and Jews. This is a culture built on fear. So many of our relationships run on fear, fear of rejection, fear of being hurt.
Fear becomes hatred.
Hatred kills.
I admire Jaron and Alex Weyer incredibly, because they're so clear about who they are, about what they are. God knows how hard it must be for them - but it's pure courage. It's beautiful. It's standing up and saying, Here I am. I am a human being.
And it's hard.
It must be hard.
And I should be doing that. Everywhere I can I should be doing that. Because the more I let myself hide, the more this kind of thing is going to keep happening. I'll have to be careful, true, but I've got to protect myself. And if I'm going to protect myself, I've got to protect everyone else.
This can't go on.
What have I got to lose?
I have nothing to lose.
I've been in love twice, once with a guy and once with a girl, and I lost both of them. So I can't lose love. I could lose friendships, but as long as I have people like you, I won't be alone.
What else can I do? I'd run out of places to run, eventually.
And at this moment there is no other alternative. I cannot do anything else but fight this. I can't run away from my problems, because my problems are everybody else's too.
And if God himself stands in my way, I'll kiss him, and, surprised, he'll stand aside. Or she will.
