I'm thinking of up and moving. Any good ideas as to where to relocate to? I'm sick of doing everyone else's job at the bakery, so I won't be sad to leave it. I figure I can get a job anywhere doing something, even if it's, ugh, sales. Long Island lost it's luster awhile ago. Time for a new adventure. You're all welcome to join me.

While it is a city, it isn't as scrunched as some places, like NYC or Boston. There were neighborhoods established before they built the major highway out there (Highway 1 I believe). The people living there voted to NOT have the highway cut through the city. Instead, it goes around it, so there isn't quite the traffic like you would see if they had indeed gone with the original plan. The neighborhoods were kept in tact and it's all good. It's easy to live on the outskirts or in parts of the city and have it not feel like you are in the city, but still have easy access to getting back in to the city. They have good public transportation too, so a car isn't always necessary. The prices are also cheaper than comparable cities, like San Francisco, NY, or LA with a huge mix of cultures and things to be found. The park there is enormous. They get snow, but because they are on the coast, they tend to be more temperate and get most of the snow in the mountains around the city.
I honestly think you would enjoy Vancouver. I'm heading there next year for a trip (since my first trip didn't happen... stupid food poisoning... unless I get there sooner), but I've heard nothing but good things from people who live/have lived/have been to Vancouver. It is one of the only cities in the world that I think I could be happy living in (me being a country lover like yourself), and certainly one of the only places on the left coast. They also have an excellent University right there on the coast with gorgeous botanical gardens.
