Summary: Angel does his best to fight the good fight but it can be difficult ...
The battle against evil was never-ending and difficult. Angel had many reservations and concerns but also, a determination never to give up.
Of course, there were many moments when he was tempted.
“Cordelia, move them!”
Cordelia was having the cheek to laugh as she moved the brightly coloured demon woodlice away from Angel’s feet. She didn’t seem to consider them all that dangerous, despite Angel telling her all about the terrible dangers that came from all the little legs.
“All gone!” Cordelia said cheerfully. “Anybody would think you were scared of little teeny insects.”
Angel chose to ignore the remark.

Rating: PG
Word Count: 121
Summary: Post-Mockingjay, Peeta worries about things sometimes.
Love is a difficult thing.
I worry sometimes that Katniss doesn’t really love me. Or that she does love me and therefore, she does things that she doesn’t really want because she wants to make me happy. I know I have done that for her sometimes. More than once. Is that wrong? Is it wrong to want to make somebody happy?
Sometimes, I think so. Sometimes I think it’s all a lie. It can be hard to know what’s real and what’s not after everything …
But then Katniss smiles at me and we talk about something else and I remember that life is complicated. And that just because something is difficult and different doesn’t ever mean that it’s not real.

Summary: Lady Penelope calls Jeff with bad news.
Penny’s eyes flashed on her portrait and Jeff pressed the button to connect the call. His friendly words of greeting died on his lips when he saw her face. It was thoroughly composed but her eyes were too bright and there was a setness to her face that wasn’t natural.
“Penny?”
“Parker is dead, Jeff.”
He swallowed. Death was a risk they ran in his business but that never stopped it being a terrible event. And in this case, he had an awful idea that it had not been in the line of duty.
“It was him,” Penny confirmed and her voice was icy. “It was not unexpected, of course. Parker and I had discussed this possibility. We were aware that … that Kira might take him.”
Jeff nodded. They had all discussed Kira, many times since he had first appeared. It went against the train for him, one made taking justice into his own hands and murdering others for it. The boys hadn’t liked it either, to his pride. More than once, they had discussed involving themselves, something that Jeff had always squashed the moment it had come up. That was not why International Rescue had been created. Kira was for the criminal justice system to sort out.
But perhaps that had been the wrong decision.
“Penny, I’m so sorry,” he said.
“As am I, Jeff,” Penny said, her voice quite collected. “You understand that I will not be available to you for some time?”
“What will you do, Penny?”
“There are taskforces out there. There is … somebody that I know who has already expressed an interest in my services. I shall contact him. Kira shall be brought to justice for his murders.”
Her hands clenched into fists for a moment and she shivered. Jeff didn’t try to say anything to change her mind.
“If you need us, Penny, just give us a call. If we can be, we’ll be there.”
She nodded her head, tersely. Jeff could see that she was holding back tears. Parker had been special to Penny. She’d chosen him herself and his loyalty to her had been absolute. They had been friends.
“Goodbye Jeff,” Penny said and signed off. Jeff stared at her normal portrait again for a few moments, getting his thoughts in order. Then he got up, knowing he needed to tell the boys had had happened. They would be angry, he knew that. They would want to do something, act in some way. He would have to nip that in the bud. International Rescue could not be seen to act in politics.
Which was not to say that they would not act.
Sometimes, you had to take a stand.
That was why he had founded International Rescue in the first place, after all.
