Title: Someday

Pairing: Ginji/Ban
Summary: Ginji tells Ban about how things will go. Ban is surprised. :)
“Someday, Ban-chan, I’m gonna have sex with you.”
Ban nearly swallowed his cigarette in shock. Turning, he stared at Ginji, who grinned back at him, completely unworried.
“What?” Ban managed at last.
“I’m gonna have sex with you,” Ginji repeated happily. He was sucking a lollipop and looked young - which always annoyed Ban because he didn’t want to look older than his new partner because then people would call him old.
“Not now,” Ginji added, as though this would make Ban’s shocked expression lessen. “I mean, we sleep in a car, that would be really uncomfortable and we’d probably get arrested or something. And we’re kind of young.”
“We’re sixteen, that’s old enough for sex,” Ban said blankly, trying to process what he was hearing. He’d known that this guy was completely crazy from the minute that they’d met but this was beyond the pale.
“Yeah, but it’s not really about age,” Ginji said, nodding sagely. “ And we don’t really know each other well enough yet. I mean, if you’re gonna have sex with someone, you have to know them really, really well. So we’ll have to wait a bit! But it’s okay Ban-chan, I’m happy to wait for you!”
“But … wait … Ginji … ” Ban spluttered, for once finding himself completely speechless.
Ginji grinned at him brightly.
“Let’s get a coffee! I’m thirsty!”
He bounced off and Ban followed, trying to make sense of the conversation that he’d just had and coming to the conclusion that it might be better just to pretend that it had never happened. It worked quite well - Ban had always been good at that. Although it did come back into his mind sometimes for no real reason in the years that followed, drifting around beneath the surface, nagging at him as he watched Ginji giggle with Natsumi or one of their female clients, or when Ginji snuggled up to him at night, insisting that he was too cold. Not that Ban ever mentioned that he remembered the conversation and Ginji never brought it up again either. It really was as though the conversation had never happened. Except for that nagging voice.
Mostly, the nagging voice was about when someday was going to become now.
